Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a day to honor those who have served in the military, but mostly those who have passed away in the line of duty! My father served in Vietnam, and I have many friends and other family members who have served their time. In fact, my Grandmothers brother was a prisoner of war and was never found. And so...today I honor those who faced their worst fears to fight for the rights of every American.
My hope is that someday we are able to become a more peaceful world, a more globalized society and that we can learn to understand how we are all equals and integrated as human beings....which would mean that peace would no longer have such a price on it! But for today...let us say simply: THANK YOU!

I hope you have a Holiday filled with peace, surrounded by the ones you love. Oh, cute clothes and good food wouldn't hurt either...icing on the cake, right?!?!

In a perfect world...My Paris Day Dream

If this were my dream world, I would have won the lottery two or three times over. Given away and invested a large portion of the money. But in my dream world, on weekends like this, I would treat myself! First I would fly to Paris. I would start my days off at a French Spa for a facial, mani-pedi, back massage and steam room expedition.

Lets see....then what?!?! hmmmmm. Then I would go shopping in Paris at all the best shops. Drinking espresso and dining along the way.

And then....after having a 36 hours day in my day dreams :) Because there is no way I could do the Louvre in one day! I would get a hotel suite to rest my tired feet...(Ahhhhhhh)

If you have never been to Paris, or France in general....GO! Start saving. Go now! It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, and someday if I have the opportunity, would gladly live. And all the stories you hear about it being the most romantic city.....well, all of it is TRUE! With purple sunsets behind the Eiffel Tower, and boat rides down the river, the Note Dame, the Louvre....shall I go on?!?!
Well, thank you for taking this little day dream excursion with me. I had fun pretending! Now I need to start saving : ) Over and out followers. Thank you for reading. And I hope you enjoy your Holiday weekend!

Wedding details

When a woman plans that special day where she is uniting with the one she loves in front of...others she loves, she wants to look as wonderful as she feels. And while on my wedding day I hope to be able to master this balancing act between looking and feeling, with just my happy glow...In reality, I know that it will be all in the details. I will want to look and feel my very best, on one of the happiest days of my life. Here are two Vintage looks I adore!
photo from: http://zsazsabellagio.blogspot.com/
I absolutely LOVE the head piece she is wearing! Then to top it off with imperfect hair, is just lovely!

The back of this dress is do die for! OMG! How elegant and yet sexy with a vintage feel to it! Per-fec-tion!

After all...when it comes to looking the most beautiful you have ever looked in your whole entire life, ever, on this planet. On the day you celebrate love itself....why not stick with what you love!

And now I just HAVE to post a picture of Nicole Richie on her wedding day. Why? Because her dress was FABULOUS! And she looked so happy!

Crazy Heels

I have to say that I recently saw an interview where Lady Gaga was walking in shoes very similar to this (first photo) and I have to admit that she looked a bit uncomfortable and awkward walking in them. I am a huge advocate for the idea that, if you can't make them look easy to walk in, then just skip them...its not cute!
But a freeze frame...now that's fun for the sake of art! Because that's why we want to wear them....They are pretty! And sometimes just pretty crazy!

The Sartorialist

When it comes to Men's Fashion there is one man who stands apart from the rest. He has made a name for himself not for how he flashes his smile and style in front of a camera, but for the fashion moments around the world that he catches on his camera. He has made a living traveling the world, bouncing from fashion capital to fashion capital, taking photo's of men and women who exude a certain fashionable confidence in every day moments. He is probably one of the pioneers for bringing to popularity "street style". Do not be fooled, he is not just a photographer, this man has an extensive resume in the fashion industry and is still very well known in fashionably elite circles. You will see some very important fashion icons and fashion industry leaders in his photo's, often without being named, as the fashion is what matters, not necessarily the name. But, his name is Scott Schuman and his Blog is The Sartorialist

This is Scott's picture from his Blog, and the fashion he presents here is a good representation of some of the fashion he is able to capture from around the world. Some of my favorite photos Scott takes are of the men in Milan who wear vintage fitted suits that were their great grandfathers, passed down from generation to generation. They are perfectly worn on the edges and faded a little from years of sun, but fit to perfection. These men must know their tailors very, very well.
The Fashion he captures has a certain ease to it, almost like they have just rolled out of bed and thrown on something amazing that they have in their closet. Scott is able to bring out a sense of comfortably from every fashion connoisseur in his photo's. As if looking fabulous took little to no effort at all, and they are at home under their skin. It can make for quite intimate pictures that he is able to create.
I would love to post pictures and give you examples of some of my favorite photo's from his blog, but they are all copyrighted. So you will just have to visit the blog yourself. I could spend hours on his Blog

A Fashion Destraction

While I am sitting at home and supposed to be completing my paperwork from my day of counseling, I am instead drinking a glass of red wine and reading fashion magazines while watching sex and the city. UUUGGGGHHHH! All these should's run through my head: I should have gone to the river for a walk. I should have cleaned the apartment. I should have done laundry. I should have completed the paperwork I needed to do, instead of leaving it for later. I should have read my book that I need to finish for my upcoming book club meeting. I should have called my friend to see how she is doing.....
But here I am shoulding all over myself at the end of the day, I am now on my second glass of red wine and have not left my couch yet. I guess the "should's" are proving not to be very motivational! I guess I needed this break! I cant help but feel like I need a week of this, but for now...tonight will have to do. And, in case you need a night to slack off and enjoy some fashion too...here is some visual entertainment. I hope these pictures provide some....temporary relief. And what better to provide some temporary relief, than the one fashion item that physically creates anything but?!?! HEELS!
