Makeup Tip: Winged Eye Liner

This is one of my best makeup tricks. I absolutely LOVE wearing winged eye liner, but getting each eye to match perfectly is a delicate art and can take forever if you don't do this every day or if you are going for a dramatic look. I found myself slowly adding to one eye and then to the other until my winged look was perfected, then looked at the clock and realized that it took me almost 10 minutes to create this drastic liner look. NO WAY! So, I learned....

First work with a regular eye liner pencil, this is easier to erase if you don't like the line you just created and you can be a little bit more brave in developing your line for a dramatic look.

Then when you are done with the pencil and happy with your liner look, you can go over your line again with a gel liner or your liquid liner. This will set your look and give you those crisp lines that we all know and love so much. You literally just fill it in and then finish off the fine edges of your line.
And VOILA! You have the dramatic eye liner effect, even on both eyes and in probably half the time...

Another Tip: Make sure you use an eye primer, this will make sure that your liner stays in place all day and night! Then if you have it, top it off with some finishing spray, Urban Decay and MAC have wonderful finishing sprays.

Dior Velvet Eyeliner

These puppies have mixed reviews online, but I still cant help but be fascinated! They are velvet eye liner appliques and they stick on like a sticker and you can peel them off and reuse them. I am definitely tempted to buy these. I love the makeup designers at Dior, they definitely know there stuff!  The bottom ones have swarovski crystals. What do you think?

Makeup and Beauty Online Resource

Have you ever made a makeup purchase and thought...."I really wish I would have known how terribly over priced and terrible this product is before I spent the money and found this out the hard way! Problem solved: Enter MakeupAlley this web site is where women (and sometimes men) from all over the world go to talk about their terrible, wonderful and somewhere in between beauty experiences. There are product reviews, salon episodes, plastic surgery stories, and everything else in between. So now, when you are thinking about spending a ton of money of the latest and greatest product or procedure you can see the general reviews before you pull out your pocket book. I like to use this web site to see what grocery store products get good reviews, in order to see where I can save some money. One of my favorite grocery store buys is my Cover Girl Mascara:

A girl needs to save money where she can and I like to replace my mascara often. So, justifying $30 for mascara that is too wet and makes my lashes go strait after curling them just makes me feel a little sad inside. So I stick with my always dependable cover girl. But, I have to admit...that once a year I do buy one expensive tube in order to make sure that my grocery store brand is still holding up against the high class competition.
Visit MakeupAlley before you go to a salon, or before you get a facial, before you get botox or plastic surgery; read the horror stories, the happy/I would do it again results, learn more about the real life stories and find out really what you are going to be getting yourself and your pocket book into. If anything, it will just let you know more about the right questions to ask when you arrive! Because my followers can be fashion forward, and smart with their money at the same time! Go fourth and prosper!!! Nah-noo! Nah-noo! (Hold up hand in Mork & Mindy Fashion, why? For fun of course)

Perfect Eyebrows! Always a must.

The shape of your eyebrows is not a one size fits all type of ordeal! Your brow should be as individual as your fashion sense. Girls let there friends reek havoc with a tweezers...DON'T DO THIS!!! You will end up bitter and a little resentful towards your friend even though you knew they were just trying to do their best. But the damage will be done and it will not grow back for quite some time, and unless you know how to fill them in your will be in a little bit of trouble.
The measurements for your eyebrows should come from your unique racial measurements.
With a great shape little bit of brow pencil or shadow with an angled liner brush, voila! You can thicken them, you can add to the arch, you can exaggerate them (I love to exaggerate them when I wear red lipstick), they will look great no matter what you do just as long as you stick to you unique facial measurements!

Here is a picture to assist:

If you would like to exaggerate your measurements, I always like to use the side of the tip of my nose as the base point for the rest of my measurements, instead of the side of my nostril.
Line number 2 is often where women falter. If the arch is wrong it will make the rest of your facial measurements look a little off kilter.
The other biggest mistake that women make is not filling them in, make sure your brows have a presence on your face, they should be colored to your desired hue to coordinate or contrast your hair color, but most importantly...make sure those lines/edges are smooth!

Here are some people with wonderful brows:

And here are some examples of how all different shaped brows can look ah-mazing!

I am a HUGE fan of Threading, which is an art that I was told originated from India. I like it because your brow specialist is already working with a strait line, so it is hard to get anything wobbly : )
Plus, my skin is sensitive and used to break out when wax was involved, wax is a very imperfect art and it is even easier to do damage with it than with tweezers!
Shade in those brows ladies. Play with them, change them, but stick with the measurement tool and you will NEVER go wrong!
Happy Friday my fabulous Shenani-followers!
