Summer Fades and Fall Begins

Summer days aren't so hot anymore and nights seem more and more brisk. You find yourself reaching for a sweater from time to time.... that's right....Fall is creeping in! Soon you will be snowboarding,  picking out layers and craving hot chocolate. Don't get me wrong, I am not giving up on my summer or my cold margarita's yet! I still need to hike to the top of Mt. Tallac in South Lake Tahoe before the snow falls! But with the season approaching, I cant help but be inspired. This Fall/Winter season seems to be less about storing those summer items, and more about wearing them in different ways. Its about layering! Turquoise Dream Jewel!

This stone historically dates back to 200 B.C. where it was used by Indian Tribes for religious purposes, art, trade, treaty negotiations, and jewelry. It was also worn by Pharaohs and Aztec Kings.
Turquoise is considered the stone of life, good fortune and a symbol of wealth by American Indians and other cultures of the world. Turquoise is the rare product of an incalculable number of chemical and physical processes that must take place in the right combination and proper environment over a time span of hundreds of thousands-if not millions-of years to be made. 

When I was a little girl...my mother had a bracelet that had a HUGE turquoise stone on it. We called it the dream jewel. Whenever my sister or I had a bad dream, we would, like all little kids, march ourselves into our Mothers room to wake her up and proceed (with tears usually) to tell her about our scary dream. My Mother would tell us about the healing powers of the "Dream Jewel" and told us that all those little cracks and dots in the stone were trapped bad dreams. So if we were going to have a bad dream when we wore it, the stone would trap the bad dream and when we woke in the morning, and the stone would have a new mark or dot in it. And that new mark was the bad dream that it trapped to help us sleep through the night. Needless to say it worked like a charm! 
And since my childhood I have had a fascination for Turquoise and its rugged beauty!

Gloves Galore!

Hello my Shenani-fashionistas. It is still winter, but not for long; SO time to embrace the beloved winter fashion items while we still can. And take your look to a chic new level with what? Well gloves of coarse! Our hands are very expressive, and I like to use different kinds of gloves in order to reflect my mood and put that finishing touch on my ensembles. For intance, when I am in a goofy and playful mood, I love mittens.....its just something about them that makes me feel like I am a clumsy 6 year old trying to pad together snowballs in by gloves without fingers that are about 4 sizes too big for me because my dad didn't want to buy me new mittens every season, and falling over in the snow because my boots get stuck and am so small. You can see how just a little pair of mittens paints a picture for me and sets my mood all at once! Well, a pair of sexy leather gloves can add that perfect finishing touch to your look and make you look and feel sexy. Make sure your ensemble pairs appropriately so you don't end up going out to dinner looking like you might also have a whip somewhere on your person, unless you are into that kind of thing : ) Meow! The trick here is to keep it simple and keep it chic, either way...make sure your lines are clean and this will make room for a vintage or modern flair! But whatever you do, make sure you like it! Make sure it feels good, and as much as you can...make sure it is animal friendly:) YAY!
