Modern Style

I am in absolute LOVE with her top, or dress or whatever it is. I say harah to her for such an amazing fashion choice because this item might have looked very odd on the hanger, and it sure as hell looks drop dead gorgeous on her!

My version of Easy Breezy

Pants: ASOS, Shoes: Vintage, Purse: Forever 21, Shirt: Obey, Jacket: N.Y. & Co.

These pants are my go to pants, when I dont want to think about it pants, when I want to be comfortable pants and when I want to be chic pants....so as you can tell, they are an important staple to my wardrobe. I will probably grow away from them with time as we all do with our fashion items, they will be out staged by a new piece that fits better. Then probably 8 years down the road I will put them on again and wonder how I ever thought they were flattering on my shape. HA HA! But for now they are perfect for a sushi dinner date with my handsome boyfriend. Easy Breezy! I hope you like it.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope this Thanksgiving you get the chance to look around the table and think about the idea of losing every single person you sit with...now, I know you are probably thinking..."WTF Brooke?!?!" I truly believe in the power of living like it is your last day and many times we overlook this way of thinking because we get used to life as we know it. This Holiday I ask you to look at those you love and think about all of the wonderful things they have contributed to your life. I challenge you to live this Thanksgiving like it might be your last. They say that we don't realize what we have until we lose it, but there is a sweetness in capturing this awareness while you are still here, while you still have them. Tomorrow is never promised and I think this thought is what can truly and honestly create a feeling of thankfulness! I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving! And I thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner of the world wide web. This blog is an incredible adventure for me and I love every minute! Thank you for visiting, thank you for reading, thank you for commenting and thank you for becoming a Follower!

Iris Apfel Inspires and gives us all Permission to be Eccentrically Fashionable!

photo courtesy of: The New York Times
Iris Apfel's popularity only grows with age. Words cannot describe how much I adore this woman and her over the top fashion sense! This woman has inspired museum exhibitions, a coffee table book and fashion advertising campaigns with her more is more fashion credo! She is a true inspiration and I honestly hope that after years of surviving in this world that I will have the heart and bravery to dress just as I please. So I say, "Thank you Iris for your inspiration! It's almost as if your style gives me gentle permission to dress how I please no matter what. You seem to whisper to me, telling me delicately to ignore the judgment and have fun!"
“I’m a geriatric starlet, my dear, don’t you know.” _Iris

'Women view her as a role model: “A lot of them have told me, ‘Now that I’ve met you, I feel so liberated.’ ” Secret eccentrics, they have learned, Mrs. Apfel maintained, “that when you don’t dress like everybody else, you don’t have to think like everybody else.”' The New York Times.

Summer Fades and Fall Begins

Summer days aren't so hot anymore and nights seem more and more brisk. You find yourself reaching for a sweater from time to time.... that's right....Fall is creeping in! Soon you will be snowboarding,  picking out layers and craving hot chocolate. Don't get me wrong, I am not giving up on my summer or my cold margarita's yet! I still need to hike to the top of Mt. Tallac in South Lake Tahoe before the snow falls! But with the season approaching, I cant help but be inspired. This Fall/Winter season seems to be less about storing those summer items, and more about wearing them in different ways. Its about layering! Here are some looks to inspire your Fall Fashion this year:

Don't Store those jean shorts, instead add some leggings

and a pair of kick ass boots!

I love this layered look with neutral coloring. It seems to

breathe an essence of hippie chic and military hoo-rah in

 the same fashionably suprised gasp!
