Backstage at Alexis Mabille's Spring/Summer 2012 Show

I absolutely love it when designers work to do something abstract to compliment the fashion they have created! It adds that essence of allure and fantasy that I believe fashion shows are really all about. I like this make up especially because it leaves you just staring at the models almost trying to picture what they look like without the make up. It looks a little ugly at times, but mostly it is just fun! Then, it isn't until the end of the video where you really get a peek at the clothing, and it is wonderful!  Two thumbs up to Alexis Mabille!

Armani Prive Blows my Mind

Some are saying that Armani's collection this season was inspired by the Japanese culture because of all of the world news regarding the earthquake in Japan. Some say that he is designing with Japanese fashion in mind because of the current stregnth of the Asian market and that Armani opportunistically only has the financial benefit of his fashion house in mind. To be quite honest, his inspiration could come from anywhere! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! With vintage 1940's silhouettes and Geisha like lines and patterns, I have fallen in LOVE! To top off these amazing looks Armani chose head pieces to be designed by Philip Treacy. These head pieces are works of art and top of the clothing perfection that is presented in this collection. There is attention to detail, play with texture and color! (sigh and sink into my chair with delight!) I have included a video of this collection below because you cannot simply see pictures, it does not do this collection justice. The movement of the fabric is brilliant! First you have the strongly structured silk kimono jackets! They are so brilliant and timeless and I love the way they move down the runway! Pay attention to the shoes, they have a very modern cut that accentuates toe cleavage. There are patent leather pieces peaking out and taking center stage as corset like tops, on shoes, on skinny belts and waist cinching corsets! Then to play even more with fabric, Armani provides us with some velvet pieces mixed in with silk, which is just so lux and lovely! The patterned silks are literally blowing my mind! I have to add that I love the mixture of the soft flower print with calligraphy like graphic paint brush strokes! BRILIANT!

In the Left picture: The flip of fabric from the corset like velvet top that exposes soft silk is designed for the floor length skirt. They whisper and gently express that the top and the bottom of this ensemble are soul mates and were designed to be together! And on the right, this ankle length suit is perfection with the flower design and the calligraphy like paint stripes with graphic fabric peaking out of the suit jacket! LOVE!

On the left is another silk suit! I would literally die for! uuuuhhhhhh! The dress in the middle, the fold of fabric that is so very geisha acts as an exterior pocket! And on the right we have on of the strongly structured silk jackets! And honestly wait till you see the movement of this jacket in the video, the picture does not show all of its essence! (Heart palpitations!)

To be completely honest this ensemble above and the one below are my two favorite looks in this entire collection!!! The structure with the shoulder shapes contrasting with the soft flower pattern absolutely blows my mind! If I had the talent to design, I would hope that I might be able to come up with something this brilliant! You know that feeling when you are reading a book and someone describes something that you are familiar with, but have never thought about it enough to define or describe it. And then you read them express and explore it and the writer just speaks to your soul in a very brilliant way, almost as if the he/she was reading your mind and expressing everything you almost never knew you always felt?!?! Well that is what I feel with these two ensembles!

Notice how the external fold of fabric is a pocket! With the top fold and hip detail on this corset top there is an almost Victorian like quality or inspiration added to this ensemble! Crossing territories and boundaries is what the 21st century is all about! Love it!

Okay...#1, I love this suit! The the hip detailing on the jacket matches the pants and the pattern is incredible! And # 2, I have to be honest...in the last few years I was beginning to think that Armani was taking a bit of a more hands off approach to his collections. But here lies a little proof that my assumptions were wrong! JOY!

The choice in Fabric is what blows my mind with this collection. Then its almost as if the cut of the fabric was authentically what nature intended it to be. The fabric has this movement to it that is completely memorizing! Modern Parisian chic at its very finest! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I love the variation in models, he uses models and other fashionable individuals like Beyonce and Daphnie Guiness proving that all shapes and sizes should be celebrated. And his runway show looks intimate and fun. The man is adorable and he knows how to throw a fashion party! LOVE IT!

Its a beautiful day! The sun is shining, the weather is perfection! I really hope you get the opportunity to relax today and be lazy for a little while. In our fast paced world, even Sunday's are no longer sacred. So I hope you take the opportunity to do something that you enjoy. Me? I will blog : ) Thank you very much. And then go spend some time with my guy : )
Here to tickle your Sunday fashion fancy is DSQUARED2 Ready-to-wear for Spring/Summer 2011: I am just adoring this chic classic geek look! There is something about the mixture of leather and plaid that make me giggle with delight. And the basket weave fedora, I think you can wear with just about everything. This type of hat is a good investment as if it even happens to go out of style, just be a little patient as it will come back around, it always seems to! Over sized statement accessories like these glasses are just delightful! Fun! Fun! Fun!  And menswear is always somehow functional, comfortable and fun all at the same time! The Tuxedo inspired ensembles make my heart palpitate in a wonderful way!

I absolutely love this look of an over sized thin knit sweater hanging over a mini. Fun!

I saw this ensemble and something in me giggled a little happy! I love the textured leather with the plaid, is the perfect amount of too much! A statement outfit for sure!

Menswear with a feminine cut. You seriously cannot go wrong!

Zexy in with a geek quality. Per-fec-tion!

It probably has to do with the fact that this model is ah-mazingly skinny. But I love how this suit drapes on her, the pants flow perfectly almost like a long skirt.

Vibrant colored dresses! Yum!

This woman looks like she could take on the world!

There is something about a tuxedo shirt and even more when it is a tuxedo dress! I love this. And then just to keep the look just soft enough, there is a little bit of lace peeking out of the bottom of the hem! I freaking DIE!

Again with the tuxedo but this time with a bow-tie! Heart attack from awesomeness! AAAHHHHH!

Its the tuxedo grand finale folks! There is something very sophisticated and yet...still somehow my little girl within says, "Oh, I want to play dress up in that today!"
