Sunday Shenanigans

As the weather changes and the days get shorter we are finding ourselves reaching for those items left unloved in the back of our closets for a few months. To welcome in the new season I like to find some fashion inspiration, this can be finding those staple pieces that inspire an entirely new look, or using what you already have in a completely new way. Here for your Sunday pleasure is a little winter layering inspiration. Stay warm my readers. Thank you for becoming a follower!

When it comes to winter, especially when one lives in a bustling city, you cant go wrong with black. I love wearing black because I can spill coffee on myself and no one will be able to notice, very convenient for days when I am out and about all day and know I will not be home until late with many important things to do. Also because I am famous for being incredibly clumsy and spilling things every which-a-way! And the best part we all know about, is it is slimming and matches just about everything!

I am loving the idea of wearing a summer time dress with leggings and boots. Although I have not done the leg work to confirm that this type of ensemble would keep one warm enough in winter weather, but I will report back as we get a little further into the season. I must note this leather jacket! Express has a neutral leather jacket that I have fallen in love with and am currently saving up to purchase, it looks just like this one. I think that the important thing to note in pulling of this transitional look would be a nice warm coat and close toed boots! CRUCIAL!

I HAD to save the best for last! I am loving this look! It is so classic, in fact she almost looks like she just stepped out of a Guess clothing add with the black leather jacket and red lips! I always feel like red lips are so incredibly fancy and should be left for evening parties...I love that she is mixing red lips with everything else that seems to be easy (hair, jeans, shirt, etc.). Most inspiring to me as last season I bought this reduculously awesome red lip color from the Chanel counter and wore it all but 3 times that season. This season, I say "yay" to my Chanel!
Okay, now I will go shopping in my own closet for all of my wonderful winter items left unnoticed for far too long! I LOVE WINTER!

Seeing Black

Its almost fall and I have winter weather clothing on the brain. I cant help but daydream about one of my favorite winter basics...Black! Black is a powerful color, it can come off as bland and boring if your ensemble is texture less or vibrant and chic if you hit the mark. There is a delicate balance when it comes to wearing black that once you have the tips will be able to walk a tight rope, it needs to have a flattering shape, movement or texture; if it has one of those then you are probably golden. One of the most important things one can pay attention to when purchasing black items is the type of wash, is it dry clean only? Can you iron it? And what type of fabric is it, the higher quality fabric the better. What you are looking for is quality that will not fade. Unless you are going for the grunge-rocker look fading is acceptable (then it should be really faded), but otherwise your nice top should retain its color if you spend a few extra dollars for quality.
Black is a color that has infinite possibilities...it can slim you down, dress you up, hide you and make you stand out if you so choose. Ever notice how fashion directors and fashion show go-ers usually wear something daring or all black? Its simple, chic and will never go out of style. So whether you are accenting with black, or using black as the base to your look, live it up and rock on! Here are some black items to hopefully inspire your fall/winter wardrobe.

Tip: When wearing all black, pay extra close attention to your make up and hair. Make sure your makeup color is spot with your skin tone and play with it your eyes or lips a little bit. All black provides a blank canvas for you to play with, don't be afraid to vamp it up!

Perfect example of texture and movement. This piece (above) is timeless and on trend at the same time with modern and soft texture.

This curly haired beauty knows how to vamp up an all black look. She finishes it off with fun hair, smokey eyes and glowing skin. Lovely!

When splurging and purchasing those Prada Stilettos with money that could go towards paying back those student loans, you want to make sure they are TIMELESS! Keep it black and you will wear them all the time with everything to make sure you will be getting your monies worth!

Black nails...a major fashion trend that about 5 years ago was new, edgy and chic. Today it has become a classic look, its here to stay. Also, the perfect way to make your look a little more edgy. Dress this nail color up or down, it works either way.

You cant go wrong with black lace. Always a sexy!

Love this look. Very chic right now. Make sure your toes are freshly done, they are a major focus. In fact black toe nails might look pretty cool right about here.

    Summer Fades and Fall Begins

Summer days aren't so hot anymore and nights seem more and more brisk. You find yourself reaching for a sweater from time to time.... that's right....Fall is creeping in! Soon you will be snowboarding,  picking out layers and craving hot chocolate. Don't get me wrong, I am not giving up on my summer or my cold margarita's yet! I still need to hike to the top of Mt. Tallac in South Lake Tahoe before the snow falls! But with the season approaching, I cant help but be inspired. This Fall/Winter season seems to be less about storing those summer items, and more about wearing them in different ways. Its about layering! Here are some looks to inspire your Fall Fashion this year:
