Favorite Accessories

These are my favorite bracelets to wear together lately. This Nixon watch I have had since I was about 14 years old (not going to tell you how long ago that was). It was my first expensive fashion accessorie and obviously I have gotten my monies worth! The mix of beaded bracelets and the leopard print bracelets are from Express. And the silver studded bracelet I have also had since about junior high durring my punk rocker days. I am hooked on mixing and matching these bracelets!

Elizabeth Taylors Jewelry Collection up for Auction

We have probably all heard about the Hollywood Icons regal jewelry collection. Well it is being auctioned off at Christie's and items are being sold for over 3 times the estimated value. I'm sure the fact that they belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, America's sweetheart, has something to do with it!

This is one of the most iconic items Elizabeth Taylor was given from her late husband, Actor Richard Burton. These Emerald and Diamond jewels are Bvlgari, which was one of Elizabeth Taylor's absolute favorite jewelry designers.

Here is the Elizabeth's Iconic 33.19 carat diamond ring: (A gift from Richard Burton)

A Glimpse into Daphne's World

As many of your loyal readers know...I have LONG been a Daphne Guinness fan! In October of this year she released a book and I cannot believe I didn't know about it until now. I have already ordered it and will be checking my mail box religiously until it arrives :) In this book Daphne gives us a glimpse into her world, showing off her 10 inch heels, her gobs of fashion jewelry (that I would absolutely DIE for) and her famously perfected black and white hair. Along with interviews and statements from fashion icons, designers and famous fans from all over the world. As a creative soul, Daphne is her own Masterpiece.

Kate's Rocker Chic Style has always been a HUGE inspiration to me. I always seem to lean towards a bit of edge with my style and Kate has this art down to perfection!

Jewelry during the Roaring 20's had a modern edge to it, it was almost futuristic in nature for the times. And surprisingly enough it's currently in vogue! But truthfully, I think that Art Deco jewelry pieces are ones that will turn out to be timeless. Best to pick one amazing piece invest a little more money than you usually would! Vintage stores are my favorite for these types of pieces! One of my local Sacramento favorites: Magnolia Treasures; it's off Fair Oaks in Carmichael. They have an Ah-mazing selection of jewelry! Turquoise Dream Jewel!

This stone historically dates back to 200 B.C. where it was used by Indian Tribes for religious purposes, art, trade, treaty negotiations, and jewelry. It was also worn by Pharaohs and Aztec Kings.
Turquoise is considered the stone of life, good fortune and a symbol of wealth by American Indians and other cultures of the world. Turquoise is the rare product of an incalculable number of chemical and physical processes that must take place in the right combination and proper environment over a time span of hundreds of thousands-if not millions-of years to be made.

When I was a little girl...my mother had a bracelet that had a HUGE turquoise stone on it. We called it the dream jewel. Whenever my sister or I had a bad dream, we would, like all little kids, march ourselves into our Mothers room to wake her up and proceed (with tears usually) to tell her about our scary dream. My Mother would tell us about the healing powers of the "Dream Jewel" and told us that all those little cracks and dots in the stone were trapped bad dreams. So if we were going to have a bad dream when we wore it, the stone would trap the bad dream and when we woke in the morning, and the stone would have a new mark or dot in it. And that new mark was the bad dream that it trapped to help us sleep through the night. Needless to say it worked like a charm!
And since my childhood I have had a fascination for Turquoise and its rugged beauty!

And so...some beautiful pictures of other dream jewels:

My favorite's are the authentic Native American made pieces. They have a soul it seems with imperfections that seem to give them movement and a life all their own! photo from: taosindiantradingco.com
