Pretty Hair

I am in love with this look, as the more popular it becomes the more messy it gets! I love the ease of braiding my hair during the winter, otherwise, it will get caught in your zippers or wrapped up in your scarf. So, the idea of having a braid with attitude is just awesome to me! Cant wait to try this myself, will report back. FYI, I also like to add in extensions to my braids. This allows me to play with colors and length! Super fun!

Shenani-Sunday

Thank you for checking out my blog on this lovely Sunday! Brought to you today is a traditional Sunday entry for me; Pictures of fashion for beauty's sake. I hope you enjoy a Sunday filled with comfort, laughter and joy! Inspire someone today, compliment them on a clothing item or hair...a little moment can go a long way! I like to think that my compliments create a pass-it-on like reaction that stretches around the world!
Enough of my day dreaming....down to the Shenanigans!

RuPaul's Drag Race....My Television Obsession!

Can I just say...That there is something that I think many women adore about a man in drag! Or maybe I should just speak for myself, "There is something that I absolutely AH-DORE about a man in drag!" Its the makeup, the dresses, over the top attitude, glitter, sky high heels and the perfectly over-sized wigs! I love it all! Its fierce and fabulous! And deserves exclamation points at the end of every sentence!
In my opinion there is no drag queen more ah-mazing than RuPaul! I have been a RuPaul fan since the 90's! And this show is just stunning to watch: Here is Episode 15, from Season 3: Grand Finale.

Gucci my heart...

I have to say that there is something about the clean lines of a suit that make me feel powerful. (See bottom right picture I am referring to). Strong lines and powerful colors can create an ensemble that, when accessorized appropriately, can make you feel like you can take on the world! (Which I would never try for I would most likely end up like Pinky and the Brain). Clothing definitely creates a feeling for me, call me overly sensitive or what you will, but its whats true for me : ) And I like to use these powers for good! I know that when I am feeling down, I have to figure out what kind of feeling I can create that will lift my mood, or bring me the strength that I need to make it through my moment, or my day.
There is something about this suit from Gucci that is simply memorizing to me. I know, it probably looks like any other women's suit that you have seen, same lines, same colors...blah. blah. blah. But I think it is the pop or color with the hat and the flower broach that bring a spark to this look. Along with the VERY tailored accessories. I can help but LOVE the combination of the shinny leather gloves and the tailored clutch!
Suits such as this one are so completely transitional that you can dress them up and keep the lines clean, or change the look entirely! If you add a colorful blouse that is lose, unbutton the jacket, loose the belt and all the other accessories and let the hair fly around a little unkempt...VOI--LAH! You have an instantly more relaxed feeling to this suit.
Another thing that you could do with this suit is wear just a plain t-shirt underneath to simplify it. Or you could wrap a scarf around your neckline and torso like a wrapped dress top under the jacket. With a plain scarf, this would most likely make for a very German military type of feel that can be very chic. A flowered scarf would look great with curly hair and some looped earrings.
I think you get my jest in my long winded explanation about why I love suits like this:

I also cant help but love the hemlines that pay tribute to the 1940's pin up look (see military trench in top middle picture). I think it can be a very gentle nod to a feminine silhouette when the hemline of a jacket, skirt or dress comes down a little further from the knee than usual. It can also make for a very elongating effect. Its my favorite hemline on my physique anyway : )

Manish Arora

Thanks to The Clothes Whisperer I have discovered a new clothing designer that I have fallen in LOVE with! His name is Manish Arora (click to go to his web site). His taste is quite avant garde, it is creative, unique and colorful...anything but boring! He seems to steer clear of playing it safe as even his LBD's have sass all their own!
The line started retailing in 1997 in India. Had many major steps in between, but finally debuted at London Fashion Week in September of 2005.
Here is one of his dresses on the cover of V magazine:

Here is a photo of the designer himself:

And here are some of his designs:

As you can see...when the man plays with black, its intensity is displayed in a very powerful, almost aggressive way and yet the design has elements that tone down its aggressive nature in such a delicate way too.

This is one of my absolute favorite items from his collections! What a beautiful color blend with graphic design elements and ah-mazing texture to top it all off!
picture from: huffingtonpost.com
His use of elements for texture are very innocent almost child like items, leaving you with a very youthful thought to the look, and yet it is compiled in a very chic way! I DIE!

Kim Kardashian would KILL for these shoulders : )

And then to keep him unpredictable and us always guessing what is next, he will work with a completely different texture in a very feminine manor. And yet, this item still has a very modern finish like all of his other ensembles. BRILLIANT!

Can I wear this to dinner tonight! His designs make me HATE how California is so relaxed in fashion! I want to dress like this every day! Ah-Mayyyzzzzing!

phhesssha--kahhh-pfft! I am at a loss for words.

Just another average little black dress....psshhahh! (obvious sarcasm)
picture from: selfserviceuk.wordpress.com
I adore the lines of this dress, the shape; it whispers a sassy jazz tune to the 1920's flapper in us all, making me want to kick my legs around in dance : )

And the HAIR!!!!

And this is where Katy Perry gets all of her insane dresses that look like they are designed with theatrics in mind.

And Saving the best picture for last!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS GUY!?!? I am running out of words for brilliant....effulgent, lustrous, incandescent, eminent, glorious, and splendid! ahhhh...thats better : )
