Perfect Eyebrows! Always a must.

The shape of your eyebrows is not a one size fits all type of ordeal! Your brow should be as individual as your fashion sense. Girls let there friends reek havoc with a tweezers...DON'T DO THIS!!! You will end up bitter and a little resentful towards your friend even though you knew they were just trying to do their best. But the damage will be done and it will not grow back for quite some time, and unless you know how to fill them in your will be in a little bit of trouble.
The measurements for your eyebrows should come from your unique racial measurements.
With a great shape little bit of brow pencil or shadow with an angled liner brush, voila! You can thicken them, you can add to the arch, you can exaggerate them (I love to exaggerate them when I wear red lipstick), they will look great no matter what you do just as long as you stick to you unique facial measurements!

Here is a picture to assist:

If you would like to exaggerate your measurements, I always like to use the side of the tip of my nose as the base point for the rest of my measurements, instead of the side of my nostril.
Line number 2 is often where women falter. If the arch is wrong it will make the rest of your facial measurements look a little off kilter.
The other biggest mistake that women make is not filling them in, make sure your brows have a presence on your face, they should be colored to your desired hue to coordinate or contrast your hair color, but most importantly...make sure those lines/edges are smooth!

Here are some people with wonderful brows:

And here are some examples of how all different shaped brows can look ah-mazing!

I am a HUGE fan of Threading, which is an art that I was told originated from India. I like it because your brow specialist is already working with a strait line, so it is hard to get anything wobbly : )
Plus, my skin is sensitive and used to break out when wax was involved, wax is a very imperfect art and it is even easier to do damage with it than with tweezers!
Shade in those brows ladies. Play with them, change them, but stick with the measurement tool and you will NEVER go wrong!

Dita + Jean-Paul = Fabulous Fashion Moment!

For heaven's sake! Can Dita get any more adorable and can Jean Paul Gaultier get any more brilliant? They worked together at the Gaultier 2010/2011 Fashion Show to show off this fabulous lingerie. The back of this ensemble makes me squirm with kid-like excitement! What intricacy......

A Treat from my Sweet!

My very sweet and thoughtful man had dinner waiting for me last night....wait, wait....not just dinner!!! He cleaned my entire apartment from top to bottom (which he knows I adore due to my limited free time), went to bat with the cable company for hours on the phone for me (and fixed the problem!), opened a bottle of red wine (my fav.), had lit just about every candle that I own and played my absolute favorite CD for me (Sarah McLaughlin, Surfacing)! (Whew)
AND had a wonderful dinner for us (that we ate while listening to the rain coming down outside)! Let me tell you...it meant so much to me!
And so...I write today to pay tribute a priority:
Remember to treat the ones you love like today is your last. It is all so precious!
And...Thank you sweetie for everything and for being YOU!

Stressful times call for a 5 step process to a happier/more empowered you!

We all know that when you are happy...you glow. When it is genuine and when it comes from a satisfied and happy place from within your beauty can shine like never before! Who wants to see some grumpy woman walking around completely unhappy with herself and not having fun in her $5,000 Dolce and Gabbana dress?!?! She can be slim, trim and lookin' good, but unless she looks like she is somewhat enjoying herself, it takes away from the glamor. Please enter... perfect example... Anna Wintour! The woman walks around in immaculate clothing from just about every design house you can think of, and she somehow always manages to look terribly lonely and unhappy!

picture from: guestofaguest.com
When Anna smiles, she looks somehow lighter, it looks like someone took about 30 lbs. off each shoulder.

Even the little smirk she displays in this Chanel Haute Couture gown that many deemed as a flop of a fashion moment, I still think she looks amazing because of her demeanor! She lights up with beauty!

And so...away from Ms. Wintour and back to my point...
We all have stressful times, stressful moments, particular things or people that trigger something deep within. And, these are stressful times for America. We all know this!
And so, to put my Masters degree to good use (as I am a counseling intern with a fashion addiction) here are 5 steps that might be helpful for you or someone that you care about that has been dressed without their smile lately....

Step 1: Identify troubling conditions or situations.
Think about the conditions or situations that you find troubling and that seem to deflate your self-esteem/confidence/general sense of well being.
Step 2: Become aware of beliefs and thoughts.
Once you've identified troubling conditions or situations, pay attention to your thoughts related to them. Especially the automatic thoughts that have become second nature or habit. (Shed some light where there has been darkness)
Step 3: Pinpoint negative or inaccurate thinking.
Notice when your thoughts turn toward the negative. Your beliefs and thoughts about a situation affect your reaction to it. Negative thoughts and beliefs about something or someone can trigger physical, emotional and behavioral responses. We all physically react to stress in different ways and the more this is perpetuated, the stronger those responses will become.
Step 4: Challenge negative or inaccuree thinking.
Test the accuracy of your thoughts. Ask yourself whether your view is consistent with facts and logic or whether there might be other explanations for the situation. (A good spot to maybe make lists and write things down if it provides more clarity).
Step 5: Change your thoughts and beliefs.
Once you've identified negative or inaccurate thinking you can replace it with accurate thoughts and beliefs. Keep what you want to keep, and whatever is left that is not serving you well...Throw it out! This can enable you to find constructive ways to cope, and give your self-esteem a boost, or the ability to cope through those situations or conditions.

Now...to normalize....I know that all of this is much easier said than done!!! The most important thing is to allow yourself the feelings that you are having. Allow them to come and dont deny and stuff them, as they will only surface later with stregnth behind them. Be true to you every moment of every day!!! Just like Anna in her Chanel gown. She went to that ball lookin great, even if others thought it was a flop of a fashion moment...she was smiling inside (and a little on the outside too)! Happy Friday readers. I hope you get to make time in your busy day for a smile or two, or three, or seven...or thirty two..okay I sut up now : )

John Galliano runs his mouth in the wrong direction

picture from: mimifroufrou.com
Picture from: mimifroufrou.com
Break my Heart! My favorite designer was just shown on CNN saying, "I love Hitler!" And reportedly managed to fit in quite a few racial slurs in this now public video taped conversation. I have heard at this time that Galliano was suspended, and then later heard that he was let go from his position as designer for Christian Dior. This is so upsetting! I am still waiting for the dramatic dust to settle in order to allow the truth to surface...will report with more at that time. But for now, I am sad to say, that it sounds like the house of Dior made a wise decision.
